9:05 pm - Donation Commission - March of Dimes

by Sidney Eileen | Pet Portraits | Donation Commission - March of Dimes

Colored pencil on black paper, 9"x12".
Photo referenced pet portrait.
~6 hours of work

I never have gotten the name of the dog, but it's a beautiful terrier. I was given a large number of very good photos to reference, but chose the head shot due to the small size of the paper.

This is a donation commission for the March of Dimes last spring in a silent auction. The individual who won the commission sent me photos late last November, and any of you who have followed my account for a while know I have not submitted any art in the time since then. This has been sitting around waiting to be drawn for so long that I felt it was only right to finish it before moving on to other art pieces begging to be created and finished.

Anyway, enjoy. I'm hoping to make time for one or two art sessions per week during the next couple months. So, here's to hoping.

8:41 pm - Chihuahua watercolor

Hi everyone.  I have been waiting to introduce myself for a little while because I wanted to be able to participate a bit.  My Claudia, mommy to 2 Poms 2 kids and 1 husband.  lol  I have always enjoyed all forms of art and this is s great group to combine two of my favorite interests.  I had my parents email me a picture of a watercolor I painted a few years ago after their chihuahua Bandit passed away. I thought you would enjoy it.  I thought it came out good for a first amateur attempt. I'd love any feedback from s more experienced water colorist.  I look forward to participating! Hugs C

2:10 pm - Corgi and cow pendant

Luther and a Cow Pendant
A custom-made pendant of Luther the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, with a hereford cow. Cardigans originally were bred as cattle herders so I thought this would be a very fitting design.

8:11 pm - New dog portrait.

Colored pencils on toned canson paper.
Colors look a little off here.

I've done quite a few brindle dogs. They're a challenge, but at least I've had practice?

I'm open for pet portrait commissions...if anyone happens to be interested.
Refer here for details/prices.

3:31 pm - Flying Frog Corgi Pendants

Corgi pendants
Some recent art pieces I've been doing. I love the way these are turning out! This is my dogs favorite sleeping/lounging poses other than belly up. Typical position for my doggies :)

These Cardigan Welsh Corgi pendants are hand-sculpted and painted. I have Pembroke Welsh Corgwn, French Bulldogs, and other breeds in the works right now, plus more breeds planned. I'm so inlove with these!

12:09 am - The Legendary Flying Unicorn Anubis Dog of Egypt

Here's a new painting of mine titled "The Legendary Flying Unicorn Anubis Dog of Egypt." I started painting it for Illustration Friday's theme (of a couple weeks ago) "legendary" but didn't finish it on time. I wanted to include several different legends in one image.

The Legendary Flying Unicorn Anubis Dog of Egypt

Acrylic on paper
8" x 5.5"

Somewhat inspired by my personal Anubis dog, Ginger (see my icon).

Have you noticed that we admire the beauty of animals much more than human? (And note, they don't do make-up and silicone!) Many people like newborns, but puppies and kittens love all!
So we couldn't get past the charm of animals too and started to make... pet portraits by airbrush technique!

pix under hereCollapse )

So who is interested to get portrait of his fluffy/toothy one (or portrait of himself with a pet) - give me a note ;)

5:08 pm - Hi! Introduction and a story

Hi! My name is Lauren. I just joined this comm and I thought I’d introduce myself. I love Brittany Spaniels!

My first dog ever was a Brittany spaniel and she was definitely a special dog. I wanted to share her story with everyone here. Opinions and feedback are greatly appreciated.

Onto the story!Collapse )

Well I hope everyone enjoyed listening to that little tale or maybe I should say tail. LOL! I enjoyed telling it. Lady was truly a dog I will never forget anytime soon.

12:50 am - Pet Portrait

Hello all! I've been watching this community for a couple weeks now, but only just joined. This is a portrait I drew on commission last week, that I thought the community might like. Her name is Maggie, and she's a border collie. The drawing is 5"x7", on black paper, with colored pencil.

3:12 am - Exhibiting as a vendor at dog shows

Has anyone here ever attended, exhibited, or worked a dog show?  I am looking to break into the circuit as a vendor with my skills and products, but don't know where to begin.  My main concern is WHICH shows are worth trying for in 2009.  I have some experience in vending at art and display tables at other venues, but dog shows and wildlife expos represent a whole other universe I'm not familiar with.  Can anyone help a newbie with some inside info on how to break into the dog show arena as an exhibitor?  Thanks.
